Description: Opening film of London pageantry makes point that at times it is "difficult to believe they are men" but "men they are, and once they were raw recruits." New recruits are seen arriving at Combermere Barracks, Windsor Castle, the commentary stressing that most know nothing about horses. They are introduced to the horse, learn handling techniques, then learn to ride, and then to ride in formation. They are taught to look after their mounts, learn ceremonial drill (sword salute), but also do some non-processional riding (jumping). Finally men are seen donning full ceremonial kit for participation in changing the guard in Whitehall. "And there they are complete, horse and man."
