Summary: A record of the visit of Crown Prince Hirohito of Japan to England in May 1921 (first two reels only of an originally longer film?).
Description: Inevitably, the film covers almost exclusively only the formal aspects of the tour. Hirohito arrives on board the battleship Katori; he and Admiral Sir Charles Madden (CO Atlantic Fleet, flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth) exchange visits; the Prince of Wales welcomes Hirohito to England; King George V and the Duke of Connaught meet him at Victoria station. In London, the Crown Prince lays a wreath at the cenotaph, and is seen leaving Westminster Abbey after visiting grave of the unknown warrior; drives in state to the City (Guildhall and Mansion House); with the Prince of Wales, visits Windsor (civic welcome); visits the National Gallery; visits Oxford University (Magdalen College, a rowing eight, the OTC); with the Duke of York (later George VI) watches flying and bombing display at Kenley Aerodrome; visits Chequers as guest of Prime Minister Lloyd George. Finally Hirohito is seen, in British Field Marshal's uniform, inspecting a parade of the Coldstream Guards at Aldershot.
