Summary: Two unrelated newsreel items covering Winston Churchill's visits to North America in 1941-1942.
Description:The first, concerning the December 1941 - January 1942 visit, shows Churchill (wearing a newly-presented fur hat) visiting a Commonwealth Air Training Scheme station near Ottawa; laying a wreath on the tomb of George Washington at Mount Vernon (near Washington) accompanied by President Roosevelt; and posing for the press in the White House gardens in his siren suit. The second, concerning his June 1942 visit, shows Churchill with Roosevelt in Washington, then shows Churchill visiting an army training camp (Fort Jackson) in South Carolina. With US Secretary of War Stimson, Churchill inspects the soldiers (paratroops); watches PT (Churchill climbs onto instructor's stand and addresses the troops) and, holding a 'walkie-talkie' to listen to orders of unit commanders, watches a paratroop drop.
