Title:SHORT SUNDERLAND AND CONSOLIDATED CATALINA MK I [Allocated Title]
Film Number:ARY 7-50
Summary: Aircraft recognition study.
Description: Seen in long shot across a lake a Sunderland of 228 Squadron takes off. It is then shown flying over the camera and performing graceful banking turns. It comes in low and passes the camera in a number of takes. A Catalina Mk I of 4 OTU passes over the camera from left to right and at various heights. A head on pass gives a good shot of the aircraft and it finally flies over and away into the distance.
Technical Details: Format: 35mm
Number of items/reels/tapes: 1
Footage: 962 ft; Running time: 11 mins
Notes: Summary: Shot sheet held. The camera seems to be situated in a reed bed by the lake which gives some of the shots a nice touch. The Catalina, a non-amphibian Mk I, has a radome and Leigh Light fitted. 4 OTU formed part of the Flying Boat Training Squadron based at Pembroke Dock.
