Description: The gas is reclaimed (from sewage or industrial waste ?) in a large plant which produces pure water and fertiliser as by-products. A sequence shows the manufacture and testing of gas 'bottles'. Methane is shown in use providing power for a variety of machinery: locomotives, trams, lorries, cars (a methane service station) tractors and agricultural machinery. The juxtaposed images of methane plant and peasants hand-threshing grain suggests the possible course of future progress.
