Description: a) Day of commemoration on 22 October for patriots killed during the Occupation. Newly named streets and squares honour such martyrs as Gabriel Peri and Berthie Albrecht. Local Resistance groups, including the Union des Femmes Francaises du Xe, Milices Patriotiques du X1e and Section Syndicate Caudron-Renault, display banners reading "We vow to continue their work" and "Our wings (planes) will avenge our martyrs."
b) A plaque is unveiled in a Hall commemorating the execution of Guy Mocquet at Châteaubriant on 22 October 1941.
c) Monument to French airmen at Poelkapelle is inset with the name of Capitaine Guynemer of the Groupe des Cigognes, whose comrades march past.
d) Reopening of the US Embassy in Paris, following the Allied recognition of the Provisional Government. Ambassador Caffery arrives and receives guests.
e) Indoor meeting of Spaniards hear speech from Croix-de-Lorraine bedecked platform, possibly honouring Spanish heroes of the French Resistance.
f) Wrestling.
g) Grape harvest.
h) Arsenal at Rochefort is destroyed by time-bombs left by Germans before their evacuation of the town. FFI Regiment de Bir Hacheim on parade. Memorial to Napoleon who boarded the Bellerophon at Rochefort.
