Description: One of five Sunderland flying boats is seen setting off from the RAF Coastal Command Station at Pembroke Dock heading north for the Arctic - a series of such airlifts by the Royal Air Force has helped to establish the base camp at Britannia Lake for the expedition led by Commander Simpson. Supplies being dropped to the advance party on the icecap. How the Royal Air Force has set about making this base fully operational. Various scenes: testing Arctic survival suits, pilots making short flights to become acquainted with the area (Sunderlands seen over the unending panorama of frozen wastes), husky dogs being brought back to England and then taken on to the Auckland Islands in the Antarctic. Leaving the island for the last time, plotting the course home, flight and landing at Pembroke Dock. "The expedition had been a success and an adventure."
