Description: With Queen and Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in attendance, the 1955 Royal Tournament takes place; various items on the programme are shown. The Household Cavalry give a riding display. Massed pipes and drums of the Arab League. The traditional Royal Navy field gun race. Instructors of the Army Physical Training Corps give gymnastics display. Women of the combined services dance in formation with hoops. RAF massed bands. The serious work of the armed forces (ie combat) is shown by a simulated raid by Royal Marine Commandos on a cliff-top radar station; "mission" accomplished, the men descend by either the "death slide" (abseiling) or "roping down". Finally, a Commonwealth contribution: pipe band of the Pakistan Police (complete with mountain sheep mascot).
