Summary: Profile of the Queens Life Guard and its ceremonial duties.
Description: The role of both the Queen's Life Guard and the Royal Horse guards is largely ceremonial; they take it in turns to guard Buckingham Palace. On the day of filming it is the Life Guards' turn. Horses are prepared at the stables, the men don their regalia and fall in for rigorous inspection by Regimental Sergeant Major. The horses (blacks and greys) are led out and the troopers mount up for the Mounted Parade and second inspection. After proceeding down the Mall they salute as they pass Buckingham Palace, reaching Horseguard's Parade at one minute to eleven. The changing of the guard ceremony is shown in detail, and the old guard prepare to return to barracks.
