Summary: The eighth film in a series showing the story of air power and its impact on the world. This episode shows the round-the-clock bombing raids on Germany.
Description: The film shows: shots of Allied aircraft that would be used over Germany in 1943; Air Marshal Harris of Headquarters Bomber Command disclosing his orders for the coming year; the state and effectiveness of our weapons by 1943; the importance of knowing exactly what the weather is like; the bombing of Essen and Krupps, Dortmund, Duisberg, Düsseldorf, Mulheim, Kremen etc; aerial footage of bombs being dropped; night bombing becoming more powerful; attack on reservoirs with the flying bomb invented by Doctor Barnes Wallace; the United States Air Force operating from Britain and taking part in a new strategic plan called Operation Point Blank, which aimed to destroy the German fighter system built up to destroy our raids on Europe and which practiced day raids; extensive footage of simulated bombing raids; the damage that had been done by the beginning of 1944, and the Battle of Berlin in the winter, where "the Bomber Command is British but its squadrons are international". The film concludes with the quote: "Some of us who fight against Germany come from France, from Poland, from Czechoslovakia. We carry many memories with us. But when we have been hurt and are fighting for our lives the battle is the only reality".
