Description: The film shows: general footage of the coast; problems that have to be considered and solved before the dyke building is actually begun; how to protect the dyke in its early stages by the use of brushwood rafts; difficulties in the building of the actual dyke because of tides and building materials; the wall of clay and sand reinforcements with stone and great boulders; the North West Poldar, the first section of land to be finished; making the land usable and preparing it for intensive farming and the establishment of communications, homes, workshops and villages. The film concludes by saying that 'once again the Dutch have triumphed over the sea' but 'today the crops are submerged under invasion as they once were under ocean tides'.
