Summary: A film about junior soldiers, told in their own words.
Description: The film opens with three boys. One is seen cleaning cars, another delivering groceries by bicycle, a third looking inside the Army Information Office - he is interviewed. The three ways into the army: as a junior leader, a junior tradesman or an army apprentice. Scenes of army life: training; the boys on an assault course; canteen food and the barracks; sports and leisure activities; the parade ground. Passing out parade at the end of term; the training means that these boys can take their place among the regulars. The film concludes with shots of army activities around the world.
