Summary:A Royal Observer Corps training exercise is used to demonstrate their rôle during a nuclear attack.
Description:"This is the sound of peace" - a silent radiation detector - "but should the sound change to that of a nuclear attack... 11,000 volunteers will be on hand." Siren sounds, ROC man scrambles into underground control room. 'Bill' explains what would happen, illustrated by scenes in the underground monitoring post (HQ No 3 Group ROC). Telephonists spring into action, readings are taken, bomb bursts are located and fallout plotted on charts. Volunteers man their positions and work swiftly and efficiently. At the end of the exercise, the volunteers are thanked.
