The Leander Class frigate HMS Aurora (F.10) launches an Ikara anti-submarine missile, the County Class destroyer HMS Norfolk (D.21) launches an Exocet missile and the role of RAF Nimrod, Buccaneer and Phantom aircraft in supporting Royal Navy operations is explained. A captain explains the threat posed by sea mines and the necessity for a strong force of mine countermeasures vessels to ensure the safety of British coastal waters; the Hunt Class minesweeper HMS Brecon (M.29) is shown at sea and deploying her remote control mine disposal system. The Island Class patrol vessel HMS Guernsey (P.297) illustrates the fisheries and oil rig protection duties carried out by the Royal Navy, and the hydrofoil HMS Speedy (P.296) is shown at sea.
