Summary: Navy Schools Presentation Team film beginning with scenes of merchant ships at sea and in port before moving on to describe the threat posed by the growing power of the Soviet Navy. The helicopter carrier Moskva and the aircraft carrier Kiev appear, and Soviet capability in amphibious operations, fleet replenishment at sea, naval aviation and submarines is covered briefly. The film then looks at the Royal Navy's main roles and capabilities. A Wessex helicopter rescues an injured crewman from a yacht, the Royal Marines carry out an exercise in northern Norway, the Hunt Class Mine Counter-Measures Vessel (MCMV) HMS Brecon (M.29) locates and destroys a mine and a Sea King helicopter carries out anti-submarine operations. Sea Harrier aircraft launch from the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible (R.05) and ships launch Sea Dart, Sea Wolf and Exocet missiles. The film concludes with scenes of drill and seamanship training at the Royal Naval College Dartmouth, and of women working in such areas as photography and communications.
