  • Description: I. Croatians volunteer for military service. Croatian head of state and leader of Ustasa movement Ante Pavelic speaks inside building flying Croatian tricolour to audience of men who clap. Men sign forms (volunteering for military service ?) and salute before Pavelic departs by car past small group of peasants who salute their leader. II. Treaty between Slovakia and Bulgaria. Bulgarian Minister of Justice Dr Konstantin Partov inspects Slovak guard of honour outside Bratislava station after arrival to sign treaty with Slovakia. After signature two ministers shake hands. III. Demolition and reconstruction in Madrid. Block of flats on outskirts of Madrid (damaged during Civil War ?) is reduced to rubble by detonation of dynamite. Newly-built School of Architecture stands awaiting occupation. IV. German production of bicycles. Men and women (who wear NSU company armbands) work on component parts of bicycles before completed machines are loaded into trains. V. Swiss cyclists train on stationary bicycles. VI. Slalom ski competition in Norway. VII. French men and women use kayaks on snow-covered slopes and streams in Savoy Alps. VIII. Locomotive production in Poland. Garlanded railway locomotive bearing plaque Die erste Neubau-Lok R5OÜK im General Gouvernement leaves factory in Ostrowiec. IX. Czech-German solidarity meeting. Government head of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia Dr Krejci, followed by Minister of Education and chief of Kuratorium für Jugenderziehung Colonel Emanuel Moravec, stand against backdrop bearing arms of Bohemia (lion) and Moravia (eagle) and address largely male indoor audience, with State Minister Karl Hermann Frank seated in front row next to slumped figure of State President Dr Hacha. Germans disembark from cargo vessel after its arrival in port (Bizerte ?) and guns, trucks and self-propelled guns are lifted from hold. Pzkpfw IV Ausf Ds move along road in column, with jerry cans stacked on top, passing trucks and military signpost pointing to Kebili, Gafsa and El Hamma. Aerial view of large Arab town. XII. Tank battle on southern sector of Eastern Front. Animated map of Southern Russia from Sebastopol to Novorossiysk. German column of motorised troops in Sdkfz 251 and motorcycle combination move along thawing road towards front between Dnieper and Donetz. Two Pzkpfw IV Ausf Gs wait on snow-covered plain, with tank crews beside them. Sdkfz 251 armed with MG 34 and marked with divisional sign of 1st SS-Panzer-Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler is mounted by crew who scan horizon with binoculars. Tanks open fire. Wrecked Russian tank and prisoner. Blazing windmill collapses into snow. As evening falls infantry advance over snow past isolated houses and Russian tanks with gaping shell holes. Junkers Ju 87 is bombed up in snow prior to flight by six silhouetted against evening light (aerial view). Heinkel He 111 releases bombs on Russian village below.
