  • Description: I. Funeral of Hans von Tschammer und Osten. Coffin of Reich Sports Minister lies in state in Reichs Chancellory in Berlin, flanked by soldiers wearing Sports organisation badge. Wreaths from Finnish Olympic Committee, Hungarian ambassador, Swedish and Danish embassies and Reichsmarschall Goering lie prominently before Goebbels steps forward to place Hitler's tribute. Seated audience includes Frick and Rosenberg. Swastika flies at half mast on top of Reichs Chancellory, out of which funeral cortège emerges past saluting guard of honour and large crowds. gun carriage bearing coffin moves towards Brandenburg gate, to accompaniment of Beethoven's fifth symphony slow movement. II. Franco addresses Cortes. General Franco walks up steps of Cortes building in Madrid, then addresses national representatives (live) on Spain's recent regeneration before all stand and join with their leader in shouting Arriba España! III. General Gariboldi visits Hitler. Commander of Italian 8th Army on Eastern Front meets Hitler, who awards him the Knight's Cross. Keitel is also present. IV. King Boris of Bulgaria visits Hitler. Hitler awaits his guest on steps of Berghof. Boris arrives and accompanies Hitler into room with von Ribbentrop and Keitel. King and Führer then stand in silhouette against plate glass view above Alps. V. Germans redistribute land in Latvia. In town square in Latvia old peasants stand with signs bearing (German) names of their settlements (Alt Autz, Vecauce, Platon, Neu-Bergfried). Square is bedecked with swastika flags as Nazi official distributes documents (land titles ?) to peasants, mostly very elderly. Elsewhere in the country Nazi officials hand document to peasant outside house; document is read or translated by another peasant for former's sake. Elsewhere in town in Latvia (signpost lists Tilsit 219 kms, Libau 25 Kms) peasants file out of church into town square flying tricolour and Nazi flags. VI. Italian naval team play football against Bersaglieri. VII. Yugoslav workers leave Belgrade for Germany. Yugoslav men parade through streets of capital behind Cyrillic sign reading VI Group and placards indicating Serbia and To Berlin. Town band leads joyful procession. Goodbyes are said on platform before train pulls out. VIII. German production and trials of Motorcycle semi-tracks. Montage of wipe from one building to another and interior scenes of mechanical workshops and workers arriving for work give impression of German productivity and technology. Production scenes of Kettenkrad motorcycle semi-track precede test-driving of completed vehicles through mud, across wood and round circuit. IX. Russian air attack on Northern sector of Eastern Front. Animated map of Eastern Front from Leningrad to Lake Ilmen. Germans fire 8.8cm Flak and MG 34 as infantry advance on horizon. Ilyushin Il Stormovik passes low over wood, filmed from German ground position. Tripod-mounted MG 34 opens fire against attacking plane. Sdkfz 251 Flakvierling moves along road. 8.8cm Flak with eighteen victory rings round barrel opens fire and a plane descends in flames beyond distant woods. Close-up of burning wreckage.
