Description: British soldiers detrain on the quayside and form up before embarking on the Tak Sang out of Hong Kong. Surrender of Britain to Japanese pressure to evacuate this Far Eastern garrison is described as a painful defeat for a nation which has already felt the effect of German arms at sea and in the air.
Feverish activity in the ordnance factories ensures that men at the front and in the reserve are properly equipped. Rapid rate of arms production is illustrated by vast quantities of rifles, bullets and shell casings, as well as foundry scenes showing the manufacture of heavy calibre gun barrels. 8.8 cm anti-aircraft guns and Flak 37s lie finished at another factory.
Soldiers leading horse-drawn gun carriages take cover during a pretended air attack (cut-ins of biplanes). Twin-mounted MG 34 opens up. Infantry rush a 7.5 cm and 15 cm howitzer into position and open fire, while an anti-tank gun beats off the enemy's armour. Soldiers now rush forward across open country to the attack and advance through woods with flamethrowers and small-arms.
