Description: Message of the film is embedded in a story which shows that failure to report venereal infection to the medical authorities endangers not only the individual but society as a whole. Inebriated Erna forgets herself with a soldier one night after a dance and contracts gonorrhoea. She unknowingly infects her fiancé Günther, who is too ashamed to report sick. Meanwhile the original carrier is recovering in hospital where he is severely reprimanded by a doctor for having failed to report symptoms which indicated a relapse and for having thereby imperilled the sacred institutions of marriage, family and children. Erna's doctor adds that delay in reporting one's condition endangers not only others but also hinders the patient's own eventual cure. Simultaneously Günther reports his infection to the army doctor, who with the aid of animated diagrams and photos then describes the symptoms of gonorrhoea and syphilis. Contracting VD is not sinful but failing to report an infection is. Happy ending shows Günther and Erna temporarily separating until both are fully cured.
