Summary: Documentary on the game reserve in East Prussia.
Description: Film shows the flora and fauna of the area through the four seasons and also Reich Master of the Hunt Goering overseeing the release of lynxes to ensure the survival of the fittest game. Map of N.E. Germany introduces opening shots of winter woods and a rough-legged buzzard alighting on its prey. Other birds filmed are ravens in the snow and with young, a cuckoo, wood stork, great spotted woodpecker, black woodpecker, snipe and woodwarbler on nests, song thrush feeding young, black stork with young and peregrine falcon with young. Wild animals filmed at intervals throughout the year include wild boar, fallow and red deer, lynxes (after near extinction specially reintroduced to destroy sick and weak beasts unfit to reproduce), aurochs scientifically bred to resemble the original species and a fox and gambolling cubs. Time lapse cinematography of blossoming branches, ripening nuts, growing ferns and a wild orchid (?) unfolding as well as views of toadstools and swarming flies, complete this composite description of the Rominten Heath from winter through to autumn.
