Description: Hexagonal 4lb (1.7kg) incendiary bomb. Fireman shows sectioned bomb and diagram illustrates mechanism. Variant types of this most frequently dropped incendiary include a delayed-action version and another with an explosive charge. Bombs are detonated and flames put out with sand and water. (Reel 2) 30lb (12.5kg) parachute-attached incendiary shown sectioned and diagrammatically, exploding and being extinguished. Phosphorus disc-bombs, dropped in summer on dry fields, burn straw and are extinguished by girl. Incendiary bags containing paraffin-drenched wood shavings burn. Parachute-attached flare. (Reel 3) Phosphorus canister bomb is tackled by man wearing gasmask (Volksgasmaske) and protective gloves. Phosphorus is shovelled into a pit. (Reel 4) 30lb phosphorus incendiary shown sectioned and diagrammatically, then put out by hand-extinguisher, hose from hydrant and fire cart. (Reel 5) Phosphorus incendiary flasks are extinguished by sand or water by man wearing mask and gloves. 250lb (113kg) liquid incendiary shown sectioned and diagrammatically. German air raid precaution (Luftschutz) personnel appear in most demonstrations. Film concludes with recapitulation of incendiaries shown and title which urges population to tackle bombs in a calm, prudent and resolute manner.
