Summary: First two reels of four reel instructional film shows operation of generator fuelled by wood, turf or coal which powers trucks.
Description: (Reel 1) Film of the cutting and stacking of wood and turf, and the mining of coal, contrasts with Germany's insufficient liquid fuel resources. Use of generator running on solid fuels permits continuing mechanisation. Graph shows rise in vehicle usage in Germany from 1.6 million in 1933 to 4.2 million in 1939. Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrer Korps began generator trials in 1935 (film of generator-powered trucks numbered 41 and 27 driving round circuit) and is now responsible for instruction. Animation shows processes in generator which produce gas. NSKK man stokes generator and plays hose on radiator grille. (Reel 2) Animation shows layout of anthracite-fuelled generator and production of gas. Generator is charged with coal and wood chippings, then ignited using front page of Der Völkischer Beobachter. Convoy of medium trucks passes along road in snow-covered wood and halts for refuelling of generators. Bus stopped in summer also refuels its generator, using wood chippings stored on roof. Section on servicing opens with NSKK man washing down Mercedes truck.
