Summary: Scenes during and after the failed Anglo-Canadian raid on Dieppe.
Description: Opening animation implies a massive attempted invasion of the French coast. Coastal battery opens fire against three funnel destroyer off shore. RAF and German fighters fly overhead and 8.8cm flak with three score rings fires. MG 34 fires against coast. British and Canadian prisoners on the beach, as well as six of the twenty-eight Churchill tanks which reportedly landed, suggest the defeat inflicted on the invader. Dead litter the beach, including soldier with Canada shoulder flash. Prisoners struggle off the beach helping their wounded comrades and proceed along front with hands up. Title draws attention to flipper footwear of some prisoners. Men are marched through town, watched by some French civilians. Report concludes with shots of multi-ringed 37mm flak position overlooking coast road along which soldiers march, and soldier calmly smoking cigarette, suggesting German confidence in their defences.
