Summary: A detailed film on the servicing of the Junkers 88.
Description: A Ju 88 A-0 is towed out to the service area, refuelled, and the oil and coolant topped up. Diagrams show the fuel tanks and filling points. In winter, anti-freeze is added to the cooling water. The hydraulics are then checked - the aircraft is jacked up, the fluid level checked, an external power source attached and the undercarriage raised and lowered. The brake and control hydraulic systems layout is then shown in a diagram. The fluid level in the cockpit is checked, the controls tested for sponginess, and the systems bled by the ground crew. The oxygen cylinders are replenished and the two batteries replaced. On the engines the exhaust manifold is checked and the petrol and oil filters removed and cleaned. Draining the oil and coolant for winter conditions is also shown. The film then details pre-flight checks. The covers are removed from a line of Ju 88s. Guns are installed and checks made of tyre pressures, fuel, oil and water levels, the cockpit canopy, electrics, flare pistol, controls etc. An external power unit is connected and the engines started. (Starting by hand cranking is also shown). Then the flaps, dive brakes, generators, brakes etc, are tested. The engines are stopped and a report made to the air crew.
