Summary: A detailed film on the bombing systems of the Junkers 88A.
Description: The layout of the bomb positions (three under each wing and two bomb bays) and of the associated cockpit controls are shown diagrammatically. A maintenance crew under an Unteroffizier then demonstrate the loading of various sizes of wing bombs: SC250, SC500, SC1000, SD1000, LMB111. The instruments are first checked (in particular the Reihenabwurfautomat, RAB, which releases the bombs sequentially). The bomb mountings are set and the bomb itself checked. A pulley system is attached (the layout shown in a diagram) and the bomb hoisted up and locked in. Its position on the RAB dial is marked. The procedure differs slightly for each bomb type. A dive-bombing run is then shown. After an instrument check the aircraft takes-off. The operating details of the sights, dive brakes, throttles, RAB etc, throughout the flight are shown diagrammatically and then in greater detail in actuality. Instructions for rapid release in level flight are also given. The loading of 50 kg bombs into the bomb bays is then shown, following a similar procedure, and a level flight bombing run demonstrated with details of, in particular, the Lotfe bomb sight.
