Description: (Reel 1) Opening titles superimposed on shots of Ju 52s dropping bombs and general aerial shots of bombing point out the importance of accurate bombing with the advent of the war. The components of the bombsight are pointed out as it is displayed on a turntable. An animated sequence shows the view through the eyepiece and shows how an adjustable prism keeps the target in place on the graticule.
(Reel 2) A Flieger approaches a training installation (a Lotfe sight plus ancillary equipment mounted on a movable gantry over a model target area) and switches it on. He then sets such variables as altitude and air speed (as read from the 'aircraft's' gauges), the degree of 'bomb trail' and the spread of the stick of bombs (worked out on a special calculator). A typical bombing run using the trainer is shown, with adjustments made for speed, drift angle and sighting angle to keep the target on the graticule. The 'bombs' are automatically released on the target.
(Reel 3) This simulated bombing run is repeated twice, the first time showing the adjustments made by the operator, the second just showing the image seen through the sight. The procedure for night-time bombing using a secondary sight with illuminated dials is then briefly dealt with. For dropping incendiaries, a different technique is demonstrated - the bombs being released manually as the target appears in the graticule. Finally a staged bombing sortie is shown - Do 17s are bombed up, the crew board, the aircraft takes off, a bombing run is made and the bombs dropped on a road and on a bridge.
