Summary: A description of British stick incendiaries and methods of extinguishing them.
Description: The film shows the three variants of the 4lb I.B. ("1.7 kg Stab-Brandbombe"). An example of each is held up for the camera by a fireman. Diagrams give the dimensions and markings, and show the internal mechanism. The simple type is first demonstrated - a fireman throws it at the ground and it immediately ignites. Ways of extinguishing it using water from a stirrup pump or a few shovels of sand are demonstrated. The 4lb 'E' variant, which has a small delayed action charge to scatter the inflammable material, and the 'X' variant with a larger explosive charge are similarly dealt with. The latter produces a considerable explosion and is tackled in this demonstration by two firemen from the cover of factory machinery using sand and water.
