Summary: A description of 4 types of British incendiary device and means of extinguishing them.
Description: 25lb I.B. ("12.5kg Fallschirm-Brandbombe"): this parachute bomb ejects 7 individual 'fire pots' up to a distance of 80m after landing. A sectioned bomb is held up for the camera and diagrams give its specifications. The operation of the bomb is demonstrated (in an open area) and the fire pots extinguished individually (with some difficulty) using sand and water. Phosphorus Sheets ("Phosphor-Brandplättchen"): these are small plastic sheets with wet phosphorus attached intended for scattering on dry fields in summer. The phosphorus ignites upon drying out. A woman civilian demonstrates collecting them in a bucket of water using tongs, and a man extinguishing them with sand or earth. Incendiary Bags ("Brandsäcke"): these large bags of paraffin soaked wood shavings are ignited by a small detonator, and are extinguished by water or sand. An attempt to beat out the fire only succeeds in spreading the blaze. Parachute flares: a demonstration of extinguishing one of these using a hand pump is given. The flare itself is not shown.
