Summary: The use of winches to rescue stuck military vehicles.
Description: (Reel 1) Shots show a variety of heavy vehicles stuck in different sorts of terrain. The film shows the position and type of winch on a selection of trucks (with close-ups of their makers logos: Henschel, Mercedes, Krupp etc), and has examples of other associated bits of equipment (hooks, pulleys etc). (Reel 2) A truck carrying some trainees leaves the Luftwaffe motor vehicle school and becomes stuck in a badly rutted track. It is freed under the strict discipline of the accompanying officer using cable attached to a suitable tree. A few examples of incorrect procedure are pointed out. (Reel 3) Freeing trucks stuck in two other situations is demonstrated (using one truck as an anchor for a second one stuck in a field, and using a pulley on a cable stretched between two trees). A number of possible problems with the use of winches and their solutions are shown. (Reel 4) A truck stuck on a steep hill is rescued by two others, one as an anchor and one as the winch vehicle. Further brief examples of rescues are shown.
