Summary:Early trials of the small experimental submarine V80.
Description:The trials are conducted on the Schlei between Kappeln and Schleimünde, October-November 1940. A general view of Kappeln is given. The camera approaches the floating dock moored alongside a ship where the V80 is housed. The submarine is prepared and starts off on its first run (with two men out on deck). Further surface trials are made. The submarine then partially submerges by flooding its buoyancy tanks and moves off, making a series of partial dives, eventually becoming completely submerged. More dives and high speed runs are carried out before the submarine is towed back to dock. The observers (mostly Naval officers) step off the escorting boat.
