Summary: Examples of tests on aircraft guns and cannon, carried out at the Tarnewitz test centre.
Description: An MG 15 machine gun is tested by firing into the air. Its resilience is tested by dropping it, jumping on it and throwing sand over it. A new pivot is also tested. An MG 151 cannon is fired out to sea from a fixed position. An MG 131 machine gun is loaded and fired from a tower into the sea. The cartridge ejection is filmed in slow motion. An MG "FF" cannon is fired from a stand into the air and into the water. Shells are shown entering the breach in slow motion. A device to limit the firing line of an MG 204 cannon to avoid hitting the tail assembly is tested in a mock-up. An elaborate timing device for measuring the velocity of a shell is also demonstrated. The turret mechanism for an MG 151 is tested on the ground and in the air with a dummy attack on an Fw 56. An MG 131, fitted to a Bf 109, is loaded and firing trials against a floating target are carried out. The target is towed back to base. The problems of continuing tests in winter are shown - a Junkers W 34 takes-off and lands on a very wet airfield. Finally an air show takes place (19-3-39) - He 111's, a Ju 88 and (probably) an Me 110 are seen.
