Summary: Oxygen equipment for high altitude flight.
Description: Two types of control device and of oxygen supply - a portable one with 20 minutes' duration and a larger unit for installation in the aircraft - are first shown with brief instructions for use. The larger unit is shown being filled from a supply truck, as are the fixed banks of cylinders in an He 111 via a connection under the aircraft. The positions of the cylinders and the outlet points for each crew member are shown. Three types of oxygen mask are demonstrated. Each is adjusted and tested carefully to ensure against air locks when in position. Diagrams show how the valve systems operate and how, in the simplest type, icing up can cause blockage in the supply. The other masks avoid this by a different valve system. Film of an icing test in a cold chamber is included.
