Summary: A film on the operation and testing of the RI202b rocket unit for assisted take-off.
Description: (Reel 1) Technical specifications of the unit are first given. The unit is displayed and panels are removed to expose its works. A cut-away model is also shown in some detail. A diagram gives the layout and operation of the unit and of the firing circuit of both unit and aircraft. Possible malfunctions are listed.
(Reel 2) A unit is wheeled out from store for fuelling, first with compressed air and then Z-Stoff (calcium permanganate) and T-Stoff (hydrogen peroxide). A parachute is packed and attached. The air pressures are checked and two units attached and connected to an He 111. The air valves are opened just prior to take-off. The pilot throws the appropriate switches, the rockets fire and the aircraft takes off. The units are dropped by parachute and recovered to be cleaned up and flushed out with water. Valves are checked for leaks and the fixing bracket for alignment. The units are returned to store.
