Summary: Operating procedure for the Hs 293 guided missile.
Description: (Reel 1) The film opens with close-up shots of an He 111H-12 with attached Hs 293 (and rocket motor) and of the control equipment on board the aircraft, in particular the FuG 203b radio equipment, the relevant switches on the main switchboard, the flare button, heater controls, control stick and firing button. The firing procedure for both observer and pilot are given. The crew board and the observer checks all switches and controls before take-off.
(Reel 2) In flight the temperature of the missile is carefully monitored and the heating adjusted. A ship is sighted and the observer moves forward to the control unit, attaches the joystick and switches the set on. The bomb is released and is guided to the 'ship' (in fact a floating target) where a direct hit is scored. The equipment is switched off. The procedure followed by the pilot who is responsible for adjusting the aircraft speed and course and for pressing the firing button is then shown. Possible malfunctions (indicated on the control panel) are then briefly dealt with. A fuse from behind one of the radio sets is changed.
