- Description: I. 'GUNS FOR SALONIKA: Unloading an enormous gun from a transport and mounting it on its gun carriage'. The barrel of a large calibre gun is lowered on ropes and pulleys over the side of a ship. Australian troops stand by to fit the barrel onto the large, two wheeled gun carriage. Having accomplished this task the gun carriage is towed backwards. (Filmed by Varges ?) II. 'SERBIAN GIRL HEROINE: Slavika Tomitch a girl heroine of the Serbian Army, has been decorated with the military medal, and is seen chatting with an English captain and an officer of the Serbian Army'. A smiling Slavika poses for the camera; she is offered a cigarette by the Serbian officer, which she accepts. She smiles, smokes and talks to her comrades. (Filmed by Varges ?) III. 'BELGIAN RED CROSS FETE: Lord Desborough takes part in a fencing bout at the fête in aid of Belgian Charities. Scenes from the pastoral play "The Magic Rose Bush"'. Woman surrounded by dignitaries gives a speech; in front of her is a line of Boy Scouts (backs to the camera) holding staves: one of them looks round furtively to stare at the camera. Fencing match between Lord Desborough and opponent is watched by a small crowd of spectators on a raised platform, some carrying parasols. After the bout the two pose for the camera with their masks removed. Two short scenes from the play, acted in the open air with a cast largely of children dressed as fairies and elves. IV. 'THE PRINCESS ROYAL AND THE AUSTRALIANS: The Princess Royal accompanied by Princess Maud, presents a silk Union Jack and a silver shield to the Australian troops'. The ceremony takes place on the parade ground at Wellington Barracks. Afterwards, a shot of the flag, with men on parade in the background. V. 'HERO OF JUTLAND BATTLE: The body of John Cornwell receives full Naval honours at the funeral. Dr Macnamara secretary of the Admiralty says, "His grave will be the birthplace of heroes"'. Crowds watch as the coffin, drawn by a naval detachment, arrives for the funeral; draped in a Union Jack and covered with flowers, it is carried by naval pallbearers to the graveside. A volley of shots is fire over the grave.
