(Reel 1) I. New Rumanian government. Members of the new government (Minister President Gigurtu) emerge from the Royal Palace in Bucharest after swearing oath of allegiance to King Carol II (not seen).
II. German orchestra in Italy. Professor Clemens Krauss conducts Munich Opera Orchestra in a performance of William Tell overture (Rossini) in the Basilica in Rome, in aid of Italian Army. Italian Minister of Culture Pavolini and German Ambassador to Italy attend.
III. German women have healthy holiday in Bavaria. Young women wearing swastika-adorned vests (Bund deutscher Mädel or Kraft durch Freude) perform eurythmic and gymnastic exercises outdoors in well organised groups, and enjoy tossing balls.
IV. German swimming championships in Berlin. Scenes from the women's 100 metre crawl and men's 100 metre butterfly races, including slow motion and underwater photography, in the swimming pool built for the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
(Reel 2) V. Hungarian leaders visit Hitler in Munich. Prime Minister Count Teleki and Foreign Minister Count Csaky (their names on banners) make ceremonial departure from Budapest watched by large crowds. They are greeted on arrival in Germany by Foreign Minister von Ribbentrop, and escorted into building to meet Hitler in dark salon, for trilateral talks including Count Ciano of Italy (not seen).
VI. Summer in Holland. Start of bathing season at Scheveningen sees Dutch families, and some German soldiers, enjoying the promenade and sea shore. (Texaco oil poster visible in background.) Elsewhere at Den Helder, by contrast, Dutch firefighters play hoses on still-smouldering ruins of a military hospital, reportedly bombed by the British, causing forty casualties.
VII. Captured French weapons. Vast quantities of transport (carts and trucks) outside and stores of ammunition (artillery shells) in warehouses are inspected by German Army officers after the French Armistice.
VIII. German military parades in defeated France. Military band marches through unidentified regional French town (probably Nancy; road signs point to Neufchâteau, Dijon and Chaumont), as German forces in France celebrate victory in various regional centres.
IX. Triumphant reception for German forces returning home. Large crowds of cheering German civilians, predominantly excited young women and children, cheer and offer flowers to military units passing through a town in Germany.
X. German U-boat triumphs. Kapitänleutnant Günther Prien of the U-47 (with snorting bull insignia on conning tower) returns in triumph to his home port (through Kiel Canal) after another victorious sortie, and stands surrounded by his bearded crew. Claim that over 600,000 tons of Allied shipping has been sunk in past six weeks is made over film of other German submarines at sea individually and in line astern. Alarm sequence recreates sighting of enemy convoy, enemy depth charges and rapid descent of U-boat, then surfacing, uncovering of deck gun and shelling freighter, engulfed in smoke. Newsreel ends to music of Geman song "Wir fahren gegen Engelland" and Portuguese commentary identifying England as the enemy.
