Summary: Film featuring the 111 Squadron, "Black Arrows" aerobatics team.
Description: History of 111 Squadron (first as fighter squadron, then as display team) related against air to air shots of aerobatics. The Squadron at base: aircraft prepared by ground crews on a misty morning. Daily routine at the base (RAF Wattisham); running up the ensign, testing ejection seats, packing parachutes. Combat exercise: two Hunters from the squadron intercept and 'destroy' an enemy aircraft (good air-air sequence and shots of radar). Pilots of the now disbanded Black Arrows (earlier incarnation of 111 Squadron before the return to an active role) leave a building, passing a displayed Spitfire, and go to their aircraft. After a brief inspection of the 'planes the squadron takes off. The remainder of the film features the nine aircraft in formation and aerobatic flight - 'treble one loop', 'wineglass loop', swan, diamond formations, etc. Squadron Leader Peter Latham's cockpit instructions can be heard on the soundtrack.
