  • Description: (Reel 1) A Ju 88A is jacked up prior to testing. A hydraulic tester is wheeled up, checked, switched on and connected to the aircraft. The airbrakes, flaps and undercarriage are all operated in turn while the groundcrew check the timing and pressures, and then check the aircraft for hydraulic leaks. A leaking joint is tightened up. Hydraulic oil levels are checked and corrected and the tester disconnected. (Reel 2) A broken hydraulic pipe (the result of enemy action) is cut and replaced using the technique shown in the previous film. The operation of the flaps is re-tested. (Reel 3) A damaged hydraulic hose on the main undercarriage is then replaced with a new section and checked using a petrol driven tester - the undercarriage is raised and lowered but one airbrake malfunctions. The test gauge is fitted into the system - diagrams show how the fault is isolated - and a faulty component replaced. The importance of cleanliness in hydraulic maintenance is stressed - a special hydraulic oil can with fitted filter is shown.
