Title:KRUPPIANER IN THOMAESTRASSE, ESSEN [Main Title]
Film Number:GWY 4
Other titles:KRUPP COLLECTION [Series Title]
Summary: Essen street scenes show Kruppianer arriving at and departing from work.
Description: Stationary camera records crowds of suited men and a few girls in long dresses walking down the main thoroughfare in the Krupp district of Essen, the Thomaestrasse, on their way to work. Electric trams and cars pass by and a goods train (part of the Krupp interplant transportation network) crosses the bridge over the Thomaestrasse. Next section shows the passage of workers, mostly wearing overalls, into the compound of a Krupp plant, probably the Schmiedepressewerke in the Thomaestrasse. Women stand at small sales stalls and a mother with a child in a pram is visible. A beer dray marked "Glückauf - Bier, Essen" passes the camera. Third section is shot in the late afternoon further up the Thomaestrasse closer to the Hauptverwaltungsgebaude on the left, then a single frame of a yacht on a lake (Baldeneysee?) before twelve frames of a bust of Alfred Krupp (1812-1887).
