Summary: Commandos and paratroopers join forces in 6th Airborne Division's sector of the Orne bridgehead.
Description: The camera examines a pre-war Michelin milestone in the small village of L'Écarde situated a half mile from Amfréville on the Ouistreham-Cabourg road. Smoke from a burning German stores dump hangs over a field dotted with anti-glider poles. A member of the 9th Parachute Regiment escorts a wounded Wehrmacht gefreiter into L'Écarde. Two jeep-loads of airborne troops from the 12th Devonshire Regiment (?) arrive in 1st Special Service and 3rd Parachute Brigades' sector from Lion-sur- Mer. A No 6 Commando troop HQ section takes a rest in a roadside ditch. Twenty captives from the 716th Infantry Division are seen in the Commando's custody. Watched by Captain Evans of the Army Film and Photographic Unit (?), a commando officer dictates a message to a signaller with a No 18 wireless set. Commandos dig in, cook a meal and go onto the alert in their slit trench. An airborne officer uses his jeep-mounted radio in Le Plein. A commando takes up position by a barn door. The camera peers down a lane towards the German lines. Commandos get water from a hand pump. Men from both specialist units are seen in possession of Le Plein.
