Summary: Lancasters are prepared for and depart on a raid.
Description: Lancasters come in to land. A Squadron Leader briefs his crew by the tail of a Lancaster. Lancaster LL971 PO*N is shown from the rear, engines running. Their follows a close up of the nose of PO*S showing its mission symbols and famous legend 'NO ENEMY PLANE WILL FLY OVER THE REICH TERRITORY - Herman Goering'. A crew bus arrives, the camera pans to the cockpit as groundcrew test equipment. An aircraft is seen in close-up and mid shot being refuelled. A close up of the nose art follows showing a voting ballot card and the words 'VOTE FOR JOE'. The ballot card has the names 'CURTIN', 'SMUTS', 'STALIN', 'CHURCHILL' and 'GHANDI' listed thereon and a cross against Stalin's name. PO*S is refuelled and re-oiled. The aircraft is started up (note bombs in the foreground), the bomb doors are closed and the front turret operated. A tractor and bomb train is seen, followed by a shot of bombs being taken into the bay of a 463 Squadron aircraft. After another view of PO*S being refuelled a rigger is seen polishing the nose as other aircraft fly overhead. Bombs are seen in the bomb bay inscribed in chalk 'Adolf'-'with no'-'love'. The load is checked for security. A tractor tows out JO*X (serial number NE 133 'Vote for Joe'), the crew enter at dusk and the engines are started. After seeing a number of take-offs the reel ends with a view of the moon.
