Description: A 75mm field gun, probably fired by gunners of 18th Division, delivering harassing fire near the Côte de Talou. A column of German and Austro-Hungarian prisoners is marched through Samogneux village by troops of French XVII Corps and US 3rd (Marne) Division.
There is shell damage. A view of Mount Teton. The rubble of Nauroy, a pan over Mont Cornillet and the village of Beine, all just east of Rheims. German wooden dummy tanks mounted on limbers. Troops of US 2nd Division and French XI Corps watch as smoke rises from the village of Vouziers. Soldiers blinded by gas are escorted through the streets to safety.
The city, after its liberation by XVIII Corps, shows normal civilian life. A posed scene of M Michaut, the temporary mayor, talking with his staff and an officer of the Chasseur battalion which liberated the town. A military band plays in front of the town hall to the delight of the small children. President Poincaré and General Mangin arrive in separate cars while the bands are playing, and listen to what is probably the French national anthem. The crowd cheers them.
