Description: Mr Vogellang, an official of the Netherlands Indies Civil Administration (NICA), talks to the chief of then native village of Lantja. A pile of burning money is raked over. Wider shot; a man with a pole rakes the burning money with local people watching behind. Locals watching. Young boy with his hands on his hips watching the fire. Smouldering ashes. Two men lay out bundles of money for burning. Close-up of Japanese guilders being dumped onto the pile. A small can of petrol is poured over the money. Money is piled up and people watch. Three separate piles of money, apparently totalling some 50,000 Japanese guilders, burning with people watching. Mounds of money burning fiercely. Dutch soldiers buy tobacco at a local market in Singkang. Closer shot. The Rajah of Soppeng bargaining with stallholders at the market. Two more shots of the Rajah. View overlooking the market; a number of Gurkha soldiers can be seen. A local man exchanges his Japanese guilders for Dutch currency (at a rate of 3 cents to a Japanese guilder).
