Summary: The training and duties of the Home Guard at a fairly late stage in the war.
Description: The film has a recruiting purpose, its message being that by taking over more home defence and so freeing the regular army for other duties, the HG is playing a direct role in the Liberation of Europe. After initial 'Flashback' shots of men listening to the first appeals for "the Local Defence Volunteers" and early parades, film shows "modern" Home Guard - new uniform; new training - street fighting and fieldcraft (camouflage, river crossing); new weapons (HGs fire a Blacker Bombard at derelict tank); better control and coordination; new duties - manning coastal guns, and AA gun and rocket batteries.
