Description: Film shows: medical inspection; recruits draw kit; drill and weapons training (film intercutting drill and combat exercise seeks to demonstrate practical value of pure drill); pay parade; PT and sport; food; relaxation in the NAAFI. Commentary talks throughout of 'trenches' etc; also full of praise for the Bren gun. Emphasis on the concern of 'Today's Army' for the physical and mental well-being of the soldier (eg approachability of officers etc; the British army is not a military machine.)
