Russian advance rescues POWs from the Germans - their poor condition - "The only reply to such terrible crimes is fire." Bombardment of encircled Germans. Final German surrender. Contrast between the fate of German troops in France and Russia. Extent of the victory - "The history of war knows no other example of a great army, fully equipped with modern weapons, being encircled and annihilated."
