Description: I. 'THE KING IN HOLLAND.' King George VI chats to Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery (Commander 21st Army Group) and Air Marshal Sir Harry Broadhurst (Commander 38 Group, RAF) on his arrival in Holland. The King inspects units of a British Armoured Division (4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards ?) drawn up on a parade ground. At Langenboom (2nd Army Tac HQ) the King and General Miles C Dempsey (Commander British Second Army) talk to members of the Royal Tank Regiment (October 12 1944). later talking to an unidentified Major of the US 82nd Airborne Division. Dutch civilians wave at King George VI as he walks through an unidentified village.
II. 'THE CEREMONY OF THE MAHMAL.' An item that covers a religious ceremony held at Abbassia (Northern Cairo) to celebrate the traditional departure of the Mahmal (sacred carpet) for Mecca. Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Mahir Pasha represents King Farouk at the proceedings, and watches as the finely embroidered carpet is carried on seven circuits of a mosque forecourt. Egyptian Army units perform a march past to conclude the ceremony.
III. 'BURMA.' Chindit soldiers cross a fast flowing water course using a bamboo pole as an improvised bridge. A mule-train carrying Chindit supplies, is led down a steeply sloped and muddy mountain side. British troops fire an Ordnance smooth-bore 3-inch mortar as smoke rises in the distance in the vicinity of a Burmese village. A Chindit patrol arrives at a resting place, its members divesting themselves of equipment and M1 .30-inch carbines.
IV. 'BEHIND THE SCENES IN BROADCASTING.' Live radio broadcast of part of play, "The Grant Case", watched by a studio audience. Actors taking part include Muriel Steinbeck, John Saul, John McCallum and Reginald Collins. Footage also shows the sound effects man at work, simulating gun fire, telephone ringing and cars crashing.
