Summary: 27th Armoured Brigade units return from the front north of Caen.
Description: Sherman and Firefly tanks belonging to the Staffordshire Yeomanry's 'A' and 'C' Squadrons make their way to the rear across country between Beuville and Colleville-sur-Orne after a spell in action on 185th Brigade's sector of 3rd Division's front north-east of Caen. One of the armoured fighting vehicles seen here, an 'A' Squadron Sherman armoured recovery vehicle, is seen towing a Stuart III light tank from the 13th/18th Hussars' reconnaissance troop; both vehicles are preceded by an M5 halftrack belonging to the Yeomanry's Light Aid Detachment. Note the anti-glider poles, which were laid by the Germans before D- Day, scattered about the open fields.
