Summary: Film focusing on Canberra WV787, a unique aircraft specially modified for trials work, participating in icing trials at the Aeroplane and Armament Expermimental Establishment at Boscombe Down.
Description: Canberra WV787 on the airfield apron at Boscombe Down. WV787 in flight showing clearly the icing equipment mounted to the rear of the aircraft beneath the tail. Air to air footage of WV787 liaising with an Argosy transport aircraft, demonstrating effectively the capabilities of the icing system. The results are later analysed and recorded. Air to air footage of Nimrod XV226 lining up behind WV787 with the icing system deployed. Further tests are conducted using Concorde prototype 002 (G-BSST), in order to test and assess the aircraft's response to controlled icing conditions.
