Description: I. A detachment of Scottish soldiers from the 1st Battalion Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders (?) is seen reinforcing the barbed wire entanglements near a French-built reinforced concrete pill box in 2nd Division's (?) sector of the frontline held by the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in northern France. A battalion piper plays the bagpipes as the wiring party goes about its work and another soldier, smoking a cigarette, keeps watch over a tureen containing either hot food or boiling water. Four French soldiers stand and watch the Scotsmen at work.
II. Men serving with either the Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) or the Royal Artillery (RA) unload heavy 8-inch projectiles from the back of two Bedford 3-ton 4x2 lorries and place them in neat upright rows on heavy planks of timber by the side of a road chosen by the BEF as an ammunition dump.
